Start with the vehicle’s actual condition
A vehicle does not need to run or look presentable before you ask about its value. Record the year, make, model, general condition and pickup location. Note whether it starts, rolls and steers, and whether the keys and ownership information are available. Photos can help explain rust, collision damage, missing components or access problems.
How an unwanted vehicle can still have value
Age or mechanical failure does not automatically make a vehicle worthless. The vehicle’s year, make, model, completeness, condition, current recycling value and pickup requirements can all affect an offer. That is why an individual quote is more useful than a generic scrap-price estimate.

Choose the right route
A running vehicle in usable condition may still suit a private sale or trade-in. A damaged, non-running or end-of-life vehicle may be better suited to a local vehicle buyer that can assess it and arrange pickup. Recycle Your Ride buys unwanted vehicles rather than accepting general household recycling or loose scrap metal.

Prepare for a workable pickup
Describe where the vehicle is parked and anything that could affect loading. Flat tires, missing keys, locked steering, blocked access, soft ground or a vehicle that does not roll can change the pickup plan. Sharing those details early helps avoid surprises.
Confirm ownership and paperwork
The seller must be legally entitled to sell the vehicle. Tell Recycle Your Ride what ownership documents and identification are available before pickup. Requirements can depend on the specific vehicle and situation, so ask rather than relying on generic online advice.
What automotive recycling accomplishes
An end-of-life vehicle contains metal, fluids and other materials that require appropriate handling. The exact recycling process depends on the vehicle, which is another reason to provide accurate information when requesting a quote.
Questions to ask before accepting an offer
- Is pickup included in the offer?
- What vehicle and location details affect the quote?
- What documents should be ready?
- Does the vehicle need to roll or have keys?
